Metabolism
The next step is to understand the two ways the body burns up calories, metabolism and thermogenesis. Metabolism is the process by which your body burns up calories for normal body maintenance. Approximately 85% of your calories are used for this purpose. Your thyroid gland is very involved in affecting your basal metabolic rate (BMR). Thermogenesis
